Harvard Law School's Green Living Representatives and Elizabeth Marble, HLS Sustainability Manager, worked to partner with their dining vendor to promote reusable dishware use in their cafeterias. Here are some steps you can take to help encourage behavior change in your dining hall.

1. Place available reusable items in a prominent location, such as next to all hot bars and on the top shelf of storage racks for easier grabs.

2. Create educational signage about reducing packaging waste and conserving water needed to manufacture disposables; place around the dining hall.

3. Charge for disposable cups of water, hot or cold; but also offer a discount for resuable bottles and mugs.

4. Implement charges for "unnecessary" disposable items (i.e. if you order a pre-wrapped sandwich and also grab a disposable clamshell you are charged 50 cents).
