Sustainability is an important part of the undergraduate and graduate living and learning experience. Peer-to-peer outreach and education campaigns encourage students to test out their creative sustainability solutions and to take individual action to support Harvard's sustainability commitment. Green technology and sustainability have also become key considerations for the historic renewal of Harvard's undergraduate houses.
There are many ways for students to lead a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle while living on campus. Some of the most important actions students can take include:
- Reusing during move-in and move-out.
- Shutting down before leaving for vacation.
- Eating healthy and creating less food waste in the dining halls.

Get Engaged With REP
The undergraduate REP program works in the Houses and freshman dorms to educate students and inspire them to take actions that support Harvard's sustainability commitment.
Harvard University Housing
For those graduate students and their families who live in Harvard University Housing properties, the Sustainable Community Leaders (SCL) program empowers residents to live a sustainable lifestyle. The program provides residents with educational and interactive resources, leadership training, sustainability through media, art, hands-on activities, and challenges, as well as customized events and programming.
