This spring Harvard Law School installed Vending Misers and Snack Misers on all their cold beverage and non-perishable snack machines.

The devices turn machines on and off based on activity as well as internal cooling cycles, conserving energy by not over-cooling and shutting off lights and displays when machines are not in use. HLS predicts the 20 devices installed will save 3.4 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents and $1,440 each year.
