As a Louis Bacon Environmental Leadership Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, I expect to graduate as a Master in Public Policy in 2017. While at HKS, I have co-chaired the Climate Justice Caucus, and served as a Research Assistant for climate and energy related projects at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Prior to school, I worked at the American Wind Energy Association and as the Climate and Energy Program Director at Media Matters, a media watchdog. As a foodie, I resonated with the Omnivore's Dilemma. In grappling with this dilemma, I have come to believe in a pragmatic approach to increasing the sustainability of food that does not require us to convince everyone to become vegan (after all, I never even convinced myself). Progress can be made through policies that require certain standards for food sold commercially, and through nudging people toward healthier and more sustainable choices by making it easy and affordable for them to make good choices.
