The Inn at Harvard has officially been approved as an ENERGY STAR building and is listed on the ENERGY STAR website. The ENERGY STAR label is a nationally recognized standard of excellence in energy performance. It signifies that a building is doing its part to fight global warming by using less energy than its peers.

The Inn’s energy performance was compared to energy use among other, similar types of facilities on the EPA's National Energy Performance Rating System. The EPA rating system accounts for differences in operating conditions, regional weather data, and other important considerations. To qualify for the ENERGY STAR, the Inn had to achieve a score of 75 or higher on a scale of 1-100; its actual score was 82.

The Inn at Harvard is the first Harvard Real Estate Services property, and the fourth building at Harvard University, to earn the ENERGY STAR.
