The 2011 MassCommuter Challenge "Bike to Work Week"  took place during Bay State Bike Week (May 14th-20th). The annual Challenge is a friendly competition amongst Massachusetts businesses and educational institutions in which employees and students support their work or school by pledging to bike at least once during Bike Week. For the second year in a row Harvard Longwood Campus won the Commuter Challenge in its size class. The Harvard Longwood Campus had 150 people register to bike 5590 miles - which was the 4th most miles pledged in the State and more than any other institution in the Longwood Medical Area (LMA)!

All Harvard Longwood Campus registrants received great prizes and had the opportunity to participate in the events below:

  • REI Gift Card Raffle: Everyone who registered from the LMA was entered into a raffle for a $100 REI gift card.
  • Annual LMA Bike Week Breakfast: On Thursday May 19, MASCO CommuteWorks hosted a breakfast for members of the Harvard LMA community, which included  free Brueggers Bagels and free 2011 Bike Week T-shirts. REI bike technicians also provided free bike inspections.
  • Bike Week Bash: On Wednesday May 25, MASCO hosted the annual Bike Week Bash at Flattop Johnny’s.
