Sustainability at Harvard

GreenToon - Environmental Cartoon Competition

Enter the 10th Annual GREENTOON Competition!

GreenToon, formerly CERtoon (Campus Emissions Reduction toon), is the FAS Green Program’s contest to create cartoons that raise awareness about environmental issues in humorous and unexpected ways. Every year, we tap into the creativity of our undergraduates and staff to inspire the entire Harvard campus to live a little more sustainably.

The Top 15 GreenToons will all win gift certificates to local restaurants and shops, and will be exhibited in cafes and offices across campus. In addition, the first place GreenToon (voted on by your peers) will win cash prizes.

Got an idea, but can’t draw? No problem! Find someone who can and enter as a team!

DEADLINE

Entries are due by midnight on Friday, December 7, 2012. We will confirm your entry after receiving all necessary information. Please note, you must provide a completed submission form for each entry.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
In the past, CERtoons addressed a different environmental topic each year (computer energy in 2004 and 2005; renewable energy and energy conservation in 2006; GHG emissions in 2007; there was no theme in 2008, and in 2009, we asked artists to think about Harvard's Greenhouse Gas Goal—30% reduction below 2006 levels by 2016) when thinking about their cartoons.

Because the challenges of meeting our GHG goal and of fighting climate change are going to require the talents and the creativity of all of us, we're leaving the theme of this year's competition open. Use whatever inspires, concerns, or energizes you about sustainability to create your GreenToon.

As in the past, entries will be judged by their use of humor, aesthetic appeal, creativity, and message.
