After months of hard work, determination, blood, sweat and tears, Social Science earned Green Office certification.
Just kidding, it was nothing like that-it just took a little thoughtful rearranging around the office. Spearheaded by the Executive Assistant, Adelaide Connelly, the team kicked off their Green Office pursuit in July by holding a recycling quiz, facilitated by the FAS Green Program, during a staff meeting. Then, weaving between summer vacations and beginning of the year craziness, the team found time to complete all of the tasks on checklist one. More impressive, though, was an initiative that they came to on their own during their Green Office pursuit-expanding access to composting for the 3rd and 4th floor. Working with the building manager, they added both a compost bin and a green board to the 4th floor kitchen, easing access to these resources for the top half of their building. When congratulated for her hard work, Adelaide simply replied “I’m just so happy that we are now part of the larger Harvard community creating a more sustainable office."
