2012 Summer Term Sustainability Events and Actions

Summer is a great time to be at Harvard! During the summer term, the characteristic aspects of Harvard culture apply, including sustainable living on campus. There are many ways to participate in the sustainability scene this summer, from daily actions to special events.

 

Top 5 Daily Actions

  1. Use Single Stream Recycling.
  2. Take only what you can eat when eating in the dining hall.
  3. Wash your clothes in cold water (“Bright Colors” setting).
  4. Turn off lights and unplug power cords when not in use.
  5. Bring your own mug to the dining hall and local cafes.

Summer Sustainability Activities and Events

  • Movies in the Harvard Community Garden (on the corner of Mount Auburn Street & Holyoke Place)
  • o  Environmental documentaries every other Wednesday at 8pm, beginning July 11 with King Corn.
  • o  Just-for-fun films every Friday at 8:30, beginning June 29 with Into the Wild.
  • Community Garden Workdays
  • o   Fridays, 3:30 to 6:30pm.
  • Farmers Market
  • o   Fridays, 3:30 to 6:30pm.
  • Green Study Breaks
  • o   Annenberg Hall, Dates TBD.
  • Recycling at Boston Cannon’s Games
  • o   Volunteer to collect recycling and get into the game free!
  • o   Harvard Stadium (N. Harvard St, across the river)
  • o   Dates:
  •      -  Thursday, July 19, 7 PM
  •      -  Saturday, July 28, 2PM
  •        -  Saturday, August 4, 7 PM
